Handmade Stoneware French Butter Dish – Painterly Reactive Glaze

A hand-thrown two-piece stoneware butter bell, or French butter keeper, designed to keep butter soft and spreadable at room temperature. The inner butter cup fits into the matching outer crock and is finished in an expressive painterly reactive glaze with layered navy blue, olive green, mustard, rust, cream and smoky brown tones. The interiors are a softly speckled pale glaze with visible throwing rings, while the broad lid flange and exposed sandy stoneware base add a warm natural contrast. Glaze pooling, small firing variations and hand-thrown marks make this a unique functional piece for the kitchen or breakfast table.
